.

PWHS has been on-line for quite sometime now. Recently, however, it had been re-shaped and upgraded with new features on the web-site. Visit the PWHS web site, and notice the following:

1. Membership on-line: one can become an instant PWHS member by typing-in data on the application form, after appreciating what the apostolate is all about;

2. Prayer petitions on-line: these petitions will be part of the intentions during the PWHS mass held at the Chapel of the Holy Souls at the Manila Cathedral, held every 2nd Monday of the month;

3. Vigil habit pledges on-line: those who commit to pray for one hour in front of the Blessed Sacrament for the holy souls can sign-up;

4. Guest book on-line: visitors to the web site can sign the guest book and leave their messages and comments;

5. Fore and Aft Newsletter on-line: main articles of recent and past issues of the PWHS quarterly publication can be read here;

6. Birthday greetings on-line: names of birthday celebrants of the month (PWHS members) are listed here. Masses are offered for their intentions on their birthday months;

7. List of other PWHS publications and other items available for PWHS members;

8. Forum on Group Discussion on certain topics: PWHS members and friends can interact on certain topics privately or publicly thru the website, on matters relating to the apostolate.

9. Multi-lingual chat rooms: members can communicate in real-time from anywhere in the world; available are public and private chat rooms;

10. Search Engine for PWHS web site: members can search for their names and other topics if listed or available in our web.

11. Fancy clock and date that follows the mouse pointer; the clock time follows the computer time.

12. Counter: it counts the number of hits every time someone visits the site.

13. Daily Quotes that appear on the pop-up window as one hits the PWHS site.

Watch out for new features to be developed. These are the following:

1. Monthly update of new members;

2. Greeting cards to be sent to PWHS members and other people by just placing name and e-mail address and message;

3. Musical background to be provided (the theme song of the PWHS Radio Veritas program "Ala-Alang Walang Hanggan");

4. Schedule of activities of PWHS;

5. Donations and orders on-line, through credit cards.

 

The on-going concern that is being addressed now is how to CREATE TRAFFIC in the web. ("Traffic" means making people and organizations visit and become aware of the PWHS web site, its objectives, and activities. ED.)

The next question is: "How do we do that?"

Last July 2002, CATHY TIVNAN, a computer "aficionado", joined PWHS and has been providing the much-needed "hands" on-line to handle this "traffic". She has been contacting some Catholic organizations’ web sites and proposing an exchange of links (i.e. the organization would place PWHS web-link on their web-site and in exchange PWHS will also place their web link, which eventually, by "clicking on", will point to their web site. ED.). Several organizations and people have already responded positively through e-mail regarding this proposal.

As of this writing, those who have established links with the PWHS website are: Holy-Souls.com, Catholic Garden’s – Seven Days of Prayer for the Souls in Purgatory, Catholic Moms, Internet Padre, Our Lady’s Warriors, Totally Catholic Link Directory, Veritas Croatian Catholic Network, Catholic Goan Network, Catholic Online, Spring Hill College, St. Joseph, The Word of God.

The PWHS website has been included in the Theology Library of Miscellaneous Catholic Sites. It is described as follows: "Prayer Warriors of the Holy Souls. Members are dedicated to pray, offer masses, do works of mercy for the intentions of the holy souls, and to recruit more members who will identify with the cause of assisting the holy souls reach their state of perfection so as to be able to enter the Kingdom of God."

The upgrading of the PWHS web site and the efficient handling of its e-mail facilities are definitely giant steps taken to further promote the objectives of this apostolate, which is to create and spread awareness of the plight of the holy souls. (We can’t say this often enough!. ED.)
