With Bishop Soc
THE NOW TRADITIONAL Mass in Commemoration of the Faithful
Departed, as spearheaded by the PRAYER WARRIORS OF THE HOLY
SOULS, will be held
on Saturday, Nov. 2, at the MANILA CATHEDRAL Crypt, at 3:00pm
with His
Excellency Bishop Socrates Villegas as the Main Celebrant.
The Rector of the Manila Cathedral, or the Basilica of the Immaculate Concepcion, is Msgr. Nestor Cerbo.
The choice of venue is in line with the pastoral advise of His Eminence, Jaime Cardinal L. Sin, who has been directing the PWHS to different venues for the last three years.
Last Nov. 2, 2000, the Cardinal himself presided over the con-celebrated Mass at the Villa San Miguel. Last Nov. 2, 2001, he sent the PWHS to have its Mass at the La Loma Parish, where the main celebrant (of the concelebrated Mass) was His Excellency, Bishop Socrates Villegas.
The Manila Cathedral Crypt is the repository of the remains of the late Cardinal Rufino Santos, Archbishop Gabriel Reyes, and Archbishop Dougherty. It is located at the lower level of the cathedral, and is accessible from the right side of the main altar.
In line with the apostolate’s quest for greater awareness of the need to pray for the faithful departed, efforts are being exerted to have this activity once more on national TV and radio as in the past years.
On the same day, the 9-day novena prayers for the holy souls will also be started. As in the previous year, a campaign is ongoing to have the novena prayed in all the parishes in the Philippines.
