Stay with me Jesus, for it is getting late and the day is on the decline – life is slipping by, death, judgment, eternity are drawing close and I need to recruit my strength not to halt on the way and for that I have need of You.

It is getting late and death is nearing. I am afraid of the darkness, the temptations, the dryness, the crosses the sufferings and how much I need You in this night of exile.

Stay with me Jesus, for in this Night of life and dangers I need You. Let me recognize You, like Your disciples in the "breaking of the bread" – let Eucharistic Communion be the light that scatters the darkness, the strength that keeps me up, the one joy of my heart.

Stay with me, Lord for at the hour of death, I wish to be united with You, if not by Holy Communion, at least by Grace and love.

Stay with me, Jesus. I do not ask You for heavenly consolations, for I do not deserve them; but the gift of Your presence, that I do ask for.

Stay with me, Lord, it is You alone I seek. Your love, Your grace, Your will, Your heart, Your Spirit, for I love You and ask for no other reward than to love You more.

To love You with a firm, practical love, to love You with all my heart on earth, to continue to love You perfectly for all eternity. Amen.
