Second National Congress:

THE
Second National Congress of the Prayer Warriors for the Holy Souls
is having a powerhouse of speakers on July 19, 2003 at the Worship Hall of the
Spirit of Love Catholic Community located at the Manila Seedling Bank Compound,
Quezon City. It will be composed of
Malolos Bishop Rolando J. Tria Tirona, OCD, DD; PWHS Spiritual Director Fr. Jojo
Zerrudo; and PWHS Teach-in speaker, Dr. Arnold T. Monera, STD-PhD.
The theme of the Congress is The Rosary: Path to Life, Love, and Light.
The topics to be discussed are: Our
Lady of Mt. Carmel: Patroness of the Holy Souls (by Bishop Tirona), The Rosary:
Purgatory’s Stairway to Heaven (by Fr. Jojo), and The Rosary as
a Compendium of the Gospel (by Dr. Monera).
The Military Ordinate of the Philippines, Bishop Ramon Arguelles, is the
main celebrant during the concelebrated mass of the congress.
There
will be an experience of powerful praise and worship with Sis. Violette Ramiro
and the St. Paul’s Contemplative Community Music Ministry. Expect to witness
the love and mercy of God through testimonies and group sharings, too. The
moderator of the programme is Bro. Ed Villacorte of the Center for Christian
Leadership.

Bishop Rolando Tirona,

Bishop
Rolando J. Tirona, GCD, DD has been the
Bishop of Malolos from January 28, 1997. He
entered the Discalced Carmelite Order on August 15, 1965 and had his first
profession of vows in Jaro, Iloilo on July 31, 1967. He was ordained priest in
Rome, Italy on April 24, 1974.
Bishop Tirona’s seminary training was
in San Carlos Seminar, Makati in
1968 (Philosophy) and Mt. Carmel Carmelite Monastery, Haifa, Israel on 1969-70.
He received his Licentiate in Sacred Theology in Spirituality in Rome on 1975.
Bishop Tirona was also assigned in Manila as Parish Team member of Mt.
Carmel Shrine Parish in New Manila, Quezon City in 1978 and later became the
Parish Priest and Superior of the Carmelite Community and OCD Provincial
Councilor in 1981 and 1987 and Provincial Superior in February 1993.
He was appointed Auxiliary Bishop of Manila by Pope John Paul II for the
Titular See of Vulturara, Italy on November 15, 1994.
Immediately, thereafter, he was ordained bishop at the Immaculate
Conception Cathedral, Manila on December 29, 1994. He was appointed Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of
Malolos in January 20, 1996 before he was installed bishop on January 28, 1997.
Bishop Tirona is also the Chairman of the Episcopal Commission on Youth (CBCP)
and Vice Chairman of Bishops- Businessmen Conference.

Bishop Ramon Arguilles |
Most
Rev. Ramon C. Arguelles, DD has been the Military Ordinate of the Philippines
(in both the police and armed forces) since 1995 until now. He had his priestly
ordination on December 21, 1969 at the Manila Cathedral and his Episcopal
ordination, January 6, 1994 by His Holiness Pope John Paul II at the St.
Peter’s Basilica, Rome.
Bishop Arguelles had his formation from Our Lady of Guadalupe Minor
Seminary and he finished Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy and Theology in San
Carlos Seminary. In his pursuit for
further and deeper knowledge of theological truth, he finished STB and STL,
Language Francals and Sociology and Tertianship in Rome. In Germany he studied Deuthchproche and in France, Teresa of
Avila and North Wales, Apostolic Spirituality.
His first pastoral assignment was as assistant parish priest in San Jose
de Navotas in 1970-72. He also
became priest in University of the Philippines in 1986-88, Our Lady of Mt.
Carmel, Project 6 in Quezon City in 1989-90; and Rector of San Carlos Seminary
in 1978-81 and Colegio Filipino, Rome in 1990-94.
He was also assigned Chaplain of Filipinos in Rome in 1990-92.
Bishop Arguelles taught Christology in Mother of Life Seminary, Patrology
in San Carlos Seminary, Introduction to the Scriptures in Divine Word Seminary
and Spirituality Summer Institute.
He was also assigned Auxiliary Bishop of Manila in 1994-95.

Fr. Jojo Zerrudo |
Rev.
Fr. Michell Joe B. Zerrudo is popularly known as “Fr. Jojo”. He has been
very active as the PWHS Spiritual Director for almost four years.
Not only is Fr. Jojo concerned with the plight of the Holy Souls, but
also the spiritual growth and direction of people working for the fruitfulness
of this apostolate. He thus gives
retreats, recollections to the core group and members, and attends the regular
monthly meetings of the PWHS core group.
Fr. Jojo was recently appointed Vicar Forane of the Vicariate of San
Pedro Bautista. He is also parish
priest of the Most Holy Redeemer Parish in Masambong, QC. He is the mainstay in the PWHS radio ministry, giving
reflections in the DWRV program, Ala-alang Walang Hanggan.

Dr. Arnold Monera |
Dr.
Arnold T. Monera, better known as Bro. Arnold, is a popular speaker in Bible
Studies and Catholic Life in the Spirit Seminars in parishes and prayer groups.
He has been professor of Sacred Scriptures, Theology and Religious
Education at the De la Salle University, Taft.
After taking up AB Philosophy at the Divine Word Seminary, Tagaytay City
in 1980,his quest for God became unending.
So he took Sinological Studies in Fu Jen University, Taipei, Taiwan in
1980-82; Theological Studies, Divine Word Seminary, Tagaytay City in 1982-86;
Master in Arts in Oriental Religions and Cultures in University of Santo Tomas
in 1992, Master in Theology; Licentiate in Sacred Theology, Kathlieko
Universiteit in Belgium in 1992-94.
He took his doctorate degree in Sacred Theology from September 1997 to
May 2002. He is also the holder of the Patrick Farrel Distinguished Professorial
Chair in Religious Studies of the De La Salle University.
He is tapped by PWHS when there is need to give teach-ins to various
groups.
