Theme: "SACRED HEART OF JESUS: Burning Furnace of Charity and Love"
On Saturday, July 29, 2006, members and friends of the PRAYER WARRIORS of the HOLY SOULS will be treated to a full-day of activities (see program) at the Gymnasium of the San Juan Elementary School.

It will be the third time that a National Congress will be held by the PWHS, an activity that is held every three years. The First National Congress, held last July 29, 2000, had as its theme, "The Jubilee of the Holy Souls: Freedom of Captives, Pardon of Debts. The Second National Congress, held last July 19, 2003, had as its theme, "The Rosary: Path to Life, Love, and Light."
In both instances, the themes had relevance to the apostolate and took into account the emphasis being given during those times, by the
hierarchy of the Catholic Church.
For this Third National Congress, Fr. Jojo Zerrudo, the Spiritual Director of the PWHS for almost seven years, deemed it appropriate to give emphasis to the devotion of the Sacred Heart. This is the theme: "Sacred Heart of Jesus: Burning Furnace of Charity and Love."
The relevance of the devotion to the Sacred Heart to the apostolate of praying for the holy souls can be traced to the "12 Promises of Jesus to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque". (see related story) The 4th promise is "They shall find in My Heart an assured refuge during life and especially at the hour of their death." The 12th promise is "The all-powerful love of My Heart will grant to all those who shall receive Communion on the First Friday of nine consecutive months the grace of final repentance; they shall not die under my displeasure nor without receiving their Sacraments; My heart shall be their assured refuge at that last hour."
Fifty years ago, in 1956, Pope Pius XII promulgated the encyclical "HAURIETIS AQUAS", containing the Doctrinal Foundations of Devotions to the Sacred Heart in Scripture Tradition, and Liturgy. At that time, Pope Pius XII led the centennial celebration of the endorsement of the Sacred Heart to the universal church by Pope Pius IX in 1856, when Pope Pius IX approved the "Act of Consecration" to the Sacred Heart.
A highlight of the congress is that the first speaker is Fr. CATALINO AREVALO, SJ, a renowned expert on the devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. He will expound on the encyclical "HAURIETIS AQUAS". This encyclical drew inspiration from Isaiah 12:3 "You shall draw waters with joy out of the Savior’s fountain".
The second speaker is Fr. Jojo Zerrudo, who will talk on "The Purifying Furnace of Divine Love" (On Devotion to the Sacred Heart).
The Eucharistic Celebration is scheduled at 11:15 A.M. The Music Ministry of the SPIRIT of LOVE CATHOLIC COMMUNITY will provide the songs. They will also assist Lydia Olaño during the Praise and Worship which will mark the start of the Congress activities.
After the lunch-break, this day also being the 14th Foundation Day of the PWHS, several individuals will be honored by "Recognition" rites. This will be followed by a family bingo where cash and valuable prizes will be given away. Door prizes will be raffled away in between games.
