Congress Theme:

JUBILEE OF THE HOLY SOULS:

"FREEDOM OF CAPTIVES;

PARDON OF DEBTS"

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,

because he has anointed me

to bring glad tidings to the poor.

He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives

And recovery of sight to the blind,

To let the oppressed go free,

AND TO PROCLAIM A YEAR ACCEPTABLE TO THE LORD.”

(Lk 4:18-19; Is. 61:1-2)

After much thought and prayer, Fr. Jojo Zerrudo, the Spiritual Director of the Prayer Warriors of the Holy Souls came up with the appropriate theme of the FIRST NATIONAL CONGRESS OF THE PRAYER WARRIORS OF THE HOLY SOULS: Jubilee of the Holy Souls: -Freedom of Captives -Pardon of Debts”

The aforementioned biblical passage was spoken by the prophet Isaiah with regard to the restoration of Zion, but quoted by Jesus as referring to His mission of Salvation, in the Gospel of St. Luke.

The words “AND TO PROCLAIM A YEAR ACCEPTABLE TO THE LORD” refer to a “Year of favor” or a “Jubilee Year” where Israel used to celebrate a jubilee year every 50 years and where debts were forgiven and slaves were set free. In the same way, at the time of our Lord, He brought real liberation to everyone, where the expression “ to set free” aptly describes our Lord’s mission.

The Great Jubilee Year 2000, is the year of God’s forgiveness, where, because of the PLENARY JUBILEE INDULGENCES, not only are sins forgiven, but also “debts incurred with these sins.” (Pls. See headline article of January-March 2000 issue of “Fore and Aft” entitled “Release More Souls this Jubilee Year 2000, Ed.)

In the First National Congress of the Prayer Warriors of the Holy Souls scheduled on Saturday, July 29, 2000, Fr. Jojo will expound on the tremendous opportunities that we all have in assisting a great number of souls to be liberated from purgatory.
