In trying to beat the deadline in our last issue, we failed to give a backgrounder as to what that group picture was all about. The photo of smiling faces belongs to the members of the core group of the PWHS and the editorial staff of “ Fore and Aft”. The core group included Violette Ramiro, Chit Cailles, Susan Paredes, Eleonor Mendoza, and Fr. Jojo Zerrudo, Spiritual Director of the PWHS. The people that keeps things going in the office of the PWHS as well as lending staff support in this newsletter are: Carlos Oda, doubling up as the National Coordinator of the PWHS and Associate Editor; Ginah Luz Arcamo, who is due to go on maternity leave soon, but continues to share in the heavy load (no pun intended) of the work as our Exec. Secretary and Circulation-in Charge; and Vhonnie Garcia, our quiet but diligent staff assistant.

The idea of using some of our booklets, like “Read Me or Rue It” or “How to Avoid Purgatory” as giveaways when you celebrate your birthday with a small (or big) gathering was picked up by Mrs. Amparo who ordered 20 copies of “Read Me or Rue It” to be given away to her guests on her birthday celebration – why not follow her example?

These PWHS members have ACCEPTED THE CHALLENGE and now considered as Area Coordinators in their respective areas.

The HEALING – INTERCESSORY MINISTRY (HIM) of the SPIRIT of LOVE CATHOLIC COMMUNITY (SOLCC) is the first prayer group to respond to the article that appeared in the April – June, 2000 issue of “Fore & Aft”. It was suggested that prayer groups incorporate the saying of the “Rosary of the Wounds” during their holy hour vigil.

Last June 23, 2000, the HIM of the SOLCC incorporated in its intensive holy hour prayers, the recitation of the “Rosary of the Wounds”. It is our hope that others will follow suit, for our Lord has made many promises to those who could honor His Holy Wounds by praying this Rosary. One of them is: “The soul who, during his life has honored the wounds of our Lord Jesus Christ and has offered them to the Eternal Father for the Souls in Purgatory, will be accompanied at the moment of death by the Holy Virgin and the angels; and our Lord on the Cross, all brilliant and in glory, will receive and crown her.”

During the “2nd National Retreat for Priests” held in Tagaytay last June 27 – 29, 2000, the MONFORT FOUNDATION, INC. donated to all the 1,526 retreatants, a complimentary kit composed of one copy each of “ Read Me or Rue It”, “How to Avoid Purgatory”, and “Unpublished Manuscript on Purgatory”. Chit Cailles, one of the members of the CORE GROUP of the PWHS was able to arrange for this donation. It is indeed a break-through for our apostolate to be able to make all these booklets available to this entire priest – retreatants who come from all over the country.
